Description

10 m or 8.5 m diameter spherical Mylar balloons

  • Maximum load: 22 kg

  • Telemetry: ARGOS™

  • Autonomy: 2 months

  • RUMBA payload: Temperature, Pressure, GPS 3D location + light passengers (O3 SSS, H2O SAW or turbulence)

Use during HIBISCUS

Super-pressure balloons will be used for long duration flights at 60 hPa and 80 hPa for:

  • Study of waves of various scales

  • Horizontal/vertical transport from ozone

  • Water vapour variability at the tropopause

  • Turbulence associated with convection
