Small short duration balloons

Balloons developped by the CNES Balloon Division are operated in cooperation with IPMet/UNESP .

Small short duration Open Stratospheric Balloons (BSO) may carry up to 150 kg for few hours at an altitude of up to 30 km. Two types of BSO balloons will be used for HIBISCUS:

10 000 m³ volume ZODIAC LIGHT (10ZL) for flights in low stratosphere, up to 30 km altitude
3000 m³ volume SF balloons (3SF) for floating around 22 km and a slow descent in the Tropical Tropopause Layer (TTL)
