Description

Hot air balloon aluminized Mylar / Polyethylene balloon

  • 45 000 m3 volume

  • 60-65 kg maximum load

  • Service gondola: NARCISSE Inmarsat telemetry (Temperature, Pressure, GPS 3D location, Global IR radiometer, balloon temperature and housekeeping information)

  • 1-2 months autonomy

Use during HIBISCUS

Long duration Infra-Red Montgolfier flights will provide:

  • Meteorological parameters for evaluating the analyzed temperature and wind (RUMBA payload, in 2003 only)

  • Remote sensing of O3, NO2, H2O, O4, atmospheric extinction by SAOZ solar occulation spectrometer

  • Remote sensing of cirrus and sub-vis cirrus by downward looking MICRO-LIDAR
